Dear Sir or Madam：

I’m the dean of XXMedical School at XX University. Mr. Shen Lujun has informed me of his intention to apply for the elective program at Hong Kong University and it’s my pleasure to write in support of his application.

I have been acquainted with Mr. Shen when he was in his fourth year of the eight-year-term medical program. It was an afternoon and we met in my office to discuss the task they were preparing for the Scientific Research Design Contest held by our school. I found it quite enjoyable to talk with Mr. Shen, one of the main members of their team, because of his understanding of diabetic nephropathy at an advanced level, and his provoking comments and inherent ability to grasp the crux of various problems.

Through our later contacts both on E-mails and in the classes,I got to know that Mr. Shen was an impressive student in many ways. He won the national scholarship in the second and third year of his studies respectively and maintained a GPA of 3.8 by the end of the fourth year. In addition, heis known for leadership and responsibility and now serves as the academic secretary of the Graduate Student Union in our campus. What impresses me most about Mr. Shen is that he always holds a strong desire to pursuemedicine and keeps optimistic towards difficulties. In order to spread the latest progress in clinical medicine in our campus, he attempted to establish a medical forum. However, his ambition was opposed by many of his colleagues owning to the shortage both in finance and human resources. It was his resolution and optimism that enabled him to find the very sponsorship and finally made the program possible.

Eight months later, in his sixth year, Mr. Shen will begin his internship in our affiliated hospital. I fully support his decision to pursue elective programs at your university and I believe this decision to study in HK will leads to new academic horizons and a broader vision for Mr. Shen. I would appreciate if you would give him your favorable consideration.
