1.西方翻译史及西方翻译理论的分类：《西方翻译简史》, 《西方翻译理论流派研究》， 《当代翻译理论》

西方翻译活动自古至今已有两千年的历史(能从文字记载中考据到的翻译活动), 广义上讲,西方最早的译作是公元前三世纪前后,72名犹太学者在埃及亚历山大城翻译的<<圣经·旧约>>, 即<<七十子希腊文本>>。西方翻译在历史上曾出现过六次高潮(参考<<西方翻译简史>>), 西方翻译史的一个重要方面是理论史的发展。西方翻译理论始于公元前106年的西塞罗，但现代翻译理论史始于20世纪五十年代和六十年代，先于我国。不同的翻译理论家对西方翻译理论的研究有不同的划分。纽马克将西方研究翻译的历史划分为两个时期：从公元前55年至20世纪上半叶属语言学前时期， 20世纪下半叶则属语言学时期。奈达将当代翻译理论分为四个基本流派：语文学派、语言学派、交际学派和社会符号学派。李文革老师将西方翻译理论分为七大流派：文艺学派、语言学派、翻译研究学派、阐释学派、结构学派、美国翻译培训学派、法国的释意派。

2.翻译理论的定性：<<翻译教程>>, <<翻译之道:理论与实践>>

翻译理论是翻译概念和翻译原理的体系，是从实践概括出来的对翻译活动的条理化、系统化的理性认识，是对翻译活动之本质、规律的正确反映。
