Jiangsu And Me

My hometown Jiangsu is a typical southern area, located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Delta, bordering Shandong province to the north, reaching south to Shanghai and Zhejiang province. As one of the most prosperous regions of China, Jiangsu is exerting itself to head for a better position in our country. Like many other citizens living in Jiangsu, I am deeply proud of it, love it and would like to advance with it.

Jiangsu has long been entitled with “a land of fish and rice” for its possession of numerous rivers and subtropical climate. Our mother river the Yangtze River flows across Jiangsu from east to west, which nourishes generations of Chinese people and brings about inviting views along these rivers. I still remember a dreamlike poet in childhood ------- “Row, row , row a boat , row to Grandmother’s bridge…”, portraying a delightful picture and feeling in the scenery with mountains and rivers. Actually, Jiangsu was never lack of such sparking and clean water in the old days, when urban life was closely related to rivers. It is said that each turn of the boat affords a different view. Water for daily use was mainly gained from rivers. Take my grandfather’s life for instance, he could make water well-preserved for drinking, planting, washing and cooling even with the simplest tools such as tanks, potteries, bowls.
