I have just received a letter from mybrother, Tim. He is in Australia.He hasbeen there for six months. Tim is anengineer. He is working for a big firmand he has already visited a great numberof different places in Australia. He hasjust bought an Australian car and hasgone to Alice Springs, a small town in thecentre of Australia. He will soon visitDarwin. From there, he willfly to Perth. My brother has never been abroad be-fore, so he is finding this trip very excit-ing.

Mr James Scott has a garage in Silburyand now he has just bought anothergarage in Pinhurst.Pinhurst is only fivemiles from Silbury, but Mr Scott cannotget a telephone for his new garage, so he has just bought twelve pigeons. Yester- day, a pigeon carried the first messagefrom Pinhurst to Silbury. The bird covered the distance in three minutes.Up to now, Mr Scott has sent a great many requests for spare parts and otherurgent messages from one garage to theother. In this way, he has begun his own private telephone service.
