History of the great wall and Badaling great wall
The great wall, symbolizing china's ancient civilization, is one of the most famous ancient construction wonders in the world. For many centuries, the great wall had been a military defensive project.
Construction of the great wall first began in the 7th century BC. The first section of wall, was built by the Qi Kingdom and the Chu Kingdom. During the warring states period, the three states of Qin, Zhao and Yan, located in the north, built high walls along their northen frontiers as defensive projects. There high walls laid the foundation for the present great wall. In chinese history, there were three dynasties that brought the climax of the development of the great wall. They are the Qin, Han and Ming dynasties.
Let me introduce the three dynasties one by one.
The sections of the wall began to be called the great wall in the time of QinShihuang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty. In 221 BC, Qin Shihuang unified china. In order to consolidate the unity, he decided to link up the separate sections of high walls, into the great wall. When it was finished, the total length of the great wall was 7000 kilometers long. The Qin Great Wall started from lintao gansu province in the west and ended in liaodong, liaoning province in the east.
